Artcare has been involved in many large scale and mural projects over the years. Our dedicated team of conservators lead by Rustin Levenson have had the honor of working with Dali Museum, University of Florida, Elling Eide Foundation, as well as murals through out the New York Metropolitan area. Below are a few examples of our large scale projects from over the years.


Elling O. Foundation Persian Mural

This vast and ornate painting has been through a number of conservation campaigns since it was painted, in what is thought to be the middle of the nineteenth century. In 2014 ArtCare completed its final treatment and installed it into its new home at the Elling O. Eide Foundation Library in Sarasota, FL.

Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL

In 2011 Artcare spearheaded a massive conservation project for the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fl. Restoring his large scale master works. Watch the video below for more details.

Hollis Holbrook Mural

This splendid mural, sited at the University of Florida, in the Smathers Library Grand Reading Room, has inspired students and researchers for sixty years. The design is carried out in the artist’s specially fabricated egg tempera on several layers of sanded gesso.


Mankind’s Struggle for a Lasting Peace by Jose Vela Zanetti at the United Nations Security Council chambers hallway. Documented condition of unmovable mural prior to undergoing protection during asbestos abatement and renovation. Developed protection system in collaboration with Artex Fine Art Services. Completed 2013.
Keith Haring mural at LGBT Center. Mural on four walls of men’s bathroom painted in 1989, titled Once Upon A Time… Treatment included removal of surface grime, consolidation of lifting paint and replication of missing background paint along top edge. Completed October 2011.
New York City Center, Grand Tier Lobby Ceiling and Wall Paintings  by unknown decorative painters. During a major facilities renovation of the theater, decorative paintings dating to the building’s original use as a Shriners Temple were conserved and missing areas of design were replicated. Wall paintings, depicting desert scenes, were consolidated, cleaned, re-varnished, filled, and inpainted. Completed September 2011.
